ABOUT JOSH

I'm a San Francisco-based writer and designer with extensive experience in digital media. I love helping specialists – whether journalists, researchers, or advocates – communicate their complex work to a broader audience.

Here at Lone Pine, I regularly work with the National Immigration Law Center, the Alliance for American Manufacturing , the Invisible Institute, and a variety of other stellar organizations and publications.

In 2011, I founded Newsbound, a company specializing in visual storytelling for good. With the goal of bridging the gap between motion graphics and static infographics, we developed a unique digital publishing tool called Stacker. Our clients included the American Civil Liberties Union, Google, the Kaiser Family Foundation, the Gates Foundation, 350.org, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Commonwealth Fund. Our work was featured by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, and MSNBC. The company closed in 2018.

I previously worked as deputy editorial director at Media Matters for America and as the founding editor of Progress Illinois, recipient of Public Narrative’s Studs Terkel Award in 2010.

GOOD Magazine named me to their GOOD 100 list in 2013.

I live in San Francisco and enjoy spending as much time in the High Sierra as possible.
